The acquisition of healthcare tooling manufacturer Winther Mould brings 56 years of experience in design for manufacturing, mold design and manufacturing, and testing and validation to MGS, solidifying its ability to deliver more large-scale, complex medical programs.

MGS Breaks Ground on New Innovation Center

A new state-of-the-art Innovation Center on the company’s Germantown, Wisconsin campus is set to open at the end of 2024. The 120,000-square-foot expansion to its headquarters will give customers access to all aspects of early product development on a single campus.

Increasing its ability to deliver high-volume, highly complex components for leading healthcare innovators, an additional 115,000 square feet of additional manufacturing capacity will be operational by year-end 2023.

MGS Acquires European Toolmaker Formteknik

A leader in innovative tooling solutions with operations in Denmark, Sweden, and Germany, the addition of Formteknik strengthens MGS’ ability to serve as a single source of supply for global customers.

2017

FURTHER EXPANSION IN MEXICO

MGS acquires an additional existing injection molding facility located in Juarez, Mexico. The plant adds 500 additional employees to the MGS family and allows the company to continue its significant growth in the Mexican market.

2015

ANOTHER CLEANROOM, NEW DISTRIBUTION CENTER

A second cleanroom is built, housing MGS Automation equipment and servo and hybrid injection molding machines. Plus, MGS opens a 100,000-square-foot distribution center in Oak Creek, Wisconsin to provide a central location for regional inventory management and shipping and receiving needs.

2014

SIXTH FACILITY OPENS, QUALITY LAB BUILT, MOLDING REBRANDED

MGS acquires the Hospira injection molding facility in Buffalo, NY, specializing in the production and assembly of medical components. A 5,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Quality Lab is built inside the Germantown molding facility. The names of all molding facilities are rebranded to MGS.

30 YEARS, NEW MGS SAMPLING FACILITY

MGS celebrates 30 years in business with its largest sales year to date. CEO, Mark Sellers, is featured in “Milwaukee BizTimes” discussing his belief in fostering the entrepreneurial spirit in employees and the value of establishing and maintaining customer communications. MGS Sampling is officially launched.

2011

FIRST OVERSEAS FACILITY, LAUNCH OF MGS AUTOMATION

New location in Leixlip, Ireland becomes the fifth MGS production molding plant and the first outside of North America. Meanwhile, MGS Automation expands its scope and capabilities with a move to a dedicated facility in Germantown.

NEW CLEANROOM, ANTIOCH NAME CHANGE

Building a 7,000-square-foot cleanroom for additional molding and assembly capacity enables MGS to serve the growing medical healthcare markets. The name of the All West Plastics facility is changed to MGS Mfg. Group – Antioch.

EXPANDING TO MEXICO

Acquiring an existing injection molding facility in Chihuahua, Mexico, MGS increases the facility’s molding capacity by adding 770-ton injection molding machines, multishot technologies and continuous shuttle blow mold capabilities. TecStar de Mexico serves the automotive, electronics and consumer markets.

2006

INVESTMENT IN THE HEALTHCARE MARKET

Acquiring All West Plastics in Antioch, Illinois allows MGS to serve the needs of the Northern Illinois “medical corridor,” providing cleanroom injection molding and value-added services. MGS invigorates the Antioch plant with additional injection molding machines and multishot manufacturing technologies.

20TH ANNIVERSARY AND EXPANSION

The new addition more than doubles the current facility size to over 180,000 square feet and increases production capacity, providing the ability to better streamline material and inventory control. The company celebrates its historic anniversary.

CONTINUED GROWTH

A second production molding facility in Libertyville, Illinois provides increased manufacturing capabilities, including blow molding. The 30,000-square-foot facility also houses single and multishot injection presses along with assemblies and secondary operations.

MULTISHOT MANIA

Universal Multishot Systems™ begins operations, servicing the multiple material manufacturing equipment needs of the MGS molding facility. Based on increasing customer demand for portable injection units, UMS quickly grows to occupy its own dedicated facility.

THE TOTAL MANUFACTURING SOLUTION

New 80,000-square-foot structure houses plastic manufacturing operations and additional mold building capabilities. TecStar establishes itself as a full-service manufacturing company – offering a complete range of engineering and production resources.

EXPANSION TO GERMANTOWN CORPORATE HQ

A new 65,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility is built to provide engineering, mold and part design, tooling, project management and plastics processing. The MGS Tech Center becomes the corporate headquarters and houses personnel and resources to support administrative needs.

FOCUS ON ADVANCED SERVICES

Meeting specialized manufacturing and development services demands, Statistical Plastics Corporation (SPC) invests in injection presses to provide developmental testing, molding and inspection services. Programmers are added for specialized CAD capabilities.

ADDITION OF SPECIALIZED DIVISIONS

MGS celebrates ten years in business and incorporates two new divisions that provide specialized services to meet the needs of customers: Prototypes, Molds & Design (PMD) and a mold polishing team.

GROWTH CONTINUES

Within just two years, the company outgrows its space and a 12,000-square-foot addition is made to the existing facility to accommodate additional equipment and personnel – marking the beginning of a significant growth phase for MGS.

Moving into a new 20,000-square-foot tooling facility in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, MGS adds a dedicated engineering and design team to provide customers with specialized solutions and design-for-manufacturability, consultation and mold design.
